Entertaiment, from Old French entretenement, means “amusement, divertissement.” Entertainment is a form of amusement that takes many forms: From the simple act of watching a movie or sporting event with friends to the more elaborate experience of dining out at a restaurant; or listening to music on an iPod; to attending a concert; or reading a book or play. Entertaiment also can take many different media forms, including the story of Scheherazade told through orchestral pieces by composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel; or as a novel by authors such as Charles Dickens; or through innovative video games.
